History[]

Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall[]

Fusion Invasion[]

The Future[]

In the Future, TOM made an appearance during the Birthday Bash. Specifically, he would appear in Pokey Oaks South. During this time, TOM noted his distress with the Absolution.

The Past[]
OF-TOM-Mt-Neverest

TOM on Mt. Neverest, from OpenFusion.

In the Past, when the Academy was added established, TOM is one of many characters that congratulate recruit as they continue through graduation on Mt. Neverest.

Eventually, TOM made an appearance during the Birthday Bash. Specifically, he would appear in Pokey Oaks South. During this time, TOM noted his distress with the Absolution.

Some time after, TOM came to City Station. He arrived from the Absolution to make repairs there. He had been wandering the world for the most part, and had been trying to find adequate means to repair his ship. Unfortunately, some of TOM's Clydes wandered off with a bunch of his gear, forcing him to stay put until their return. TOM mentions that his ship, the Absolution, is in trouble.

Origin[]

Cartoon-TOM

TOM 3, from Toonami.

TOM (short for Toonami Operations Module) originates from the 1997 animated programming block Toonami. In that media, he is presented as the host of Toonami, as well as the protagonist of the fictional universe within it. He is also the captain of the various inccarnations of the Absolution, an intergalactic broadcast vehicle, and operates it along with his A.I. companion SARA. From his vessel, TOM announces shows, occasionally rates new video games, and gives advice to the viewer through short speeches. Described as a personality matrix downloaded into a robot shell, TOM himself is a sardonic wisecracker with a flair for throwing one-liners, but nonetheless possesses sage-like wisdom.

Originally believed to be a Beta-Droid chosen by Moltar to be the captain of the GPS Absolution Mk. I, TOM was later revealed to be a rogue unit from a mass-produced line of mindless slave robots working for the commander of a space station called the Forge. Over the course of his life, TOM has been destroyed and rebuilt numerous times, and now has a total of seven iterations, with those being TOM 1, TOM 2, TOM 3, TOM 4, TOM 3.5, TOM 5, and the most recent iteration, TOM 6.

Trivia[]

  • There are four suits that can be found from the Clyde units. They are 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0; Each is similar to TOM's respective models.
  • TOM's design in Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall is based primarily on TOM 3.0, though some deviations are present.
  • TOM is the only NPC in Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall to be featured on Adult Swim (if retroactively, as the Toonami block was not revived until after TOM showed up in Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall).
  • TOM, along with the Clydes, are the only non-generic NPC to not come from a show, but a programming block.
  • TOM was planned to appear in an expansion for FusionFall Retro. Specifically, his presence was hinted in the Mission, "1.21 Megawatts". He would have had a Nano and his ship, the Absolution, was going to be an area with its inner workings as an Infected Zone.
