After the Birthday Bash update in January 14, 2010, the amount of nanos would gradually rise, reaching up to 56 unique nanos before the game shut down in August 29th, 2013. The biggest change that occured in the Post Birthday Bash era was the level requirement to obtain a nano. Many nano levels were altered and adjusted to allow the player to obtain more than one nano per level. Beyond this, nanos were added to the game through codes, which would require the player to only enter a code to obtain a nano, and not have to participate in previously established "Nano Missions"

During the Nano Enhancement Project missions, the hero collects items for the development of new Nanos. According to these missions, certain in-game characters who don't currently have a nano are being researched and are going through scientific development. Ben also has sent Dexter samples from Chromastone, Spidermonkey, and Jetray for Nano development.
Nanos can also be found in some forms through a Nano incubator, located both on Mt. Neverest and within Dexlabs. The nanos found within these incubators include Cheese, Way Big, Mordecai, Jake, Rath, Ultimate Big Chill, Rigby, Flapjack, AmpFibian, and Sym-bionic Titan.
As of February 16, 2011, Grigon released three new nanos along with the creation of The Academy. For players with an avatar past the events in The Future, the nanos were released via codes. They also announced that there would be twenty new nanos released in 2011-2012 (the exact number of that actually were released in 2011-2012). In April 2011, Grigon released three more new Nanos: Johnny Bravo, Cheese, and a new experimental Nano dubbed "the Unstable Nano ." With the addition of these three Nanos, access to the DexLabs Primary Research Facility was released to the public. The facility acts as the central base for Nano development and research. In May 2011, three more nanos were added to the game. Jake the Dog, Flapjack, and Johnny Test, being the first Unstable Nano transformations, were given Nano counterparts. Then, within the following months, Grigon released a handful of new nanos into the game. These updates included AmpFiban (the second Unstable Nano transformation), Chowder, Gumball Watterson, Johnny Test (official release), Rigby, Titan, Zak Saturday, Ice King , Rath, Van Kleiss (the third Unstable Nano transformation, replacing AmpFibian), Darwin Watterson, Mordecai, and Princess Bubblegum Nanos, respectively.
